Internet Marketing Strategies

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Each WordPress blog has one automatically built-in RSS Feed. Proper usage of your blog’s RSS feed is another way of building backlinks, which helps your site get indexed faster, reach more people and enable them to subscribe to your blog.

You can easily find your blog’s RSS Feed by clicking on the yellow (PC) or blue (Mac) sign on the right side of your browser.

How can RSS Footer Plugin help you

RSS Footer is one of those free WordPress plugins, which provide a lot of value for your blog. Thanks to this plugin you can add an extra link back to your blog in your feed. You can choose whether to display the link at the beginning of the feed or at the end and configure the display of the link. When you submit such feeds in various feed directories — for instance, in the very powerful feedage.com you get a free means of driving more traffic to your blog and better positioning in search results.

Hi Justyna
I know I should make more use of my RSS feed and set up Feedburner.
John Hoff has a great “how to” video on Feedburner setup over on his site. – it’s just finding the time.
Look forward to your follow up post.

Hey my name pops up and look who shows up? hehe

Thanks Keith… now you still haven’t gotten your RSS all squared away with Feedburner? Yeah I know what you’re saying about time. You just gotta do it one day. It’s nice having the stats and option for people to sign up for email updates.

But to be honest, if you’re going to leave a place for email sign ups, probably a newsletter would be better and more lucrative to display.

Hi Justyna – Thanks for the info. I’ve heard of the RSS Footer plugin but haven’t given it a try yet. It’s nice getting that extra link. Have you noticed any statistical difference between putting it at the top vs. the bottom?

Hi John,

Thanks for your comment

yes, Feedburner is another great place to go and take full advantage of it:) Actually, it is one of the first things I do, when I create a new blog.

As for your RSS Footer question, I don’t have the statistics you ask about. I put the backlink at the beginning of my feed and forgot about it:) If you decide to test it, I will be curious to know your findings.

P.S. Definitely the online world is small;)

RSS feeds can help not only the blogger but also its readers. It makes the updating to interested readers easier. Google also values the number of subscribers to your website or blog so the more subscribers you have the more chances your pages get to get indexed by Google.
