Sexybookmarks is an extremely useful plugin created by Shareaholic. It’s a great tool to help your readers submit your articles to numerous social bookmarking sites, social networking sites and easily share the articles by email. Without a doubt, that way you can increase traffic to your blog. What’s more the plugin looks really cool
. Have a look underneath.
How to set it up
1. In your dashboard got to Plugins and choose Add New.
2. Type in Sexybookmarks and hit Search.

3. Choose Sexybookmarks and hit Install.

4. After successful installation go to Settings in your dashboard and find Sexybookmarks among other plugins and settings.
5. When you click on it it will take you to the plugin configuration dashboard.

6. Firstly, choose the networks you want to display on your blog, you can drag them to order the way you like it. There are 90 icons to choose from. It’s up to you, how many you choose and which ones but I recommend: dig, mix, reddit, stumbleupon, propeller, delicious, google buzz, facebook, twitter, email to friend, technorati, friendfeed.
7. Now, let’s go to Functionality Settings. You should choose: add nofollow to the links and open links in a new window. The first one is better for SEO and the second one is obvious if you want to save your readers time on looking again for your website.

8. The next step is Plugin Aesthetics. Most of the options are already set by default. You can change them and choose a background image you like.

9. The last part is the Menu Placement. Choose what’s the best for you. What I recommend is to show Sexybookmarks in RSS feed.
Now save changes, check your blog and have fun with Sexybookmarks

That is brilliant – you really know your stuff.
Most tutorials just say “follow the instructions” but you have set out the steps in easy to follow chunks with text and graphics.
My cheque is in the post. LOL

@ Keith, cool you liked it, more great stuff coming
@ Leanne, great to see your comment on my blog, I’m just working on a review post about your WP Bible, which I find a great resource of information
Nice tutorial Justyna
I’m sure lots of people will benefit from this.
Justyna, thanks for the list of recommended icons that you suggest in using for Sexybookmarks. Just what I was looking for.
I’ve got two questions (if I may):
1. In step nine you recommend “to show Sexybookmarks in the RSS feed.” I changed it as suggested, but don’t really know what that actually means.
2. I see you use a different bookmarking plugin. Do you find that it converts better than the Sexybookmarks? What’s the plugin called?
Thanks again for the writeup.

Hi Lorenzo,
Cool, you find my tutorial useful
1. If you show Sexybookmarks in RSS feed, those who read your blog via feed readers will be able to share your content from your feed, thanks to the Sexybookmarks icons appearing just there.
2. I use DiggDigg plugin now (you can get it for free in WordPress plugins repository). I tested both plugins and the new one I use works better. It is easier to share content in various networks and my blog’s readers use it more often
